The Cold Hard Truth at the Ranch
Jacob and the Cowboys return from Boseman. They need to find their horses. They must get a fire going. Also, they risk freezing. Zane suggests leaving Jacob behind. He tells Jacob to use the wagon for firewood. Then, he will ride a horse to the ranch.
Cara confronts Elizabeth at the ranch. Elizabeth resists getting the rabies shot. Cara then slaps her. She informs her that the alternative is madness or being shot. However, Elizabeth relents. Finally, she receives the shot.
Jacob and company arrive with Zane. The doctor then diagnoses Zane. It was found that he has a subdural hematoma. This implies swelling in his brain. It needs to be drained. It will kill him without drainage.
The doctor has no anesthesia. Thus, Zane will feel all the pain. He has to endure the procedure of being awake. Meanwhile, Jack faces emotional pain. Elizabeth is packing to return to Boston. She does not want this life. She wants Jack to come with her.

Cops and Robbers on the Plain
Runs His Horse (Michael Spears) finds a rancher. The rancher allows them to camp. He offers them a wage. Also, they will help track the cattle. Kent and Renaud are in trouble. The tribe they antagonized gets Marshal Fossett involved. Also, she investigates the scene. She finds tracks going east.
Fossett urges the tribe to let her handle it. They want vengeance, not justice. It is a race to find Kent and Renaud first. Thus, Kent and Renaud head towards Mexico. They are searching for Teonna.
Spencer’s Roadblock
Spencer and Luca drive. Soon, Spencer notices a roadblock. He stops the car. He sees they cannot bribe these officers. They search for another way to Fort Worth. Spencer wants to ditch the truck. He does not want to risk his life for booze. Luca refuses to abandon his cousin. They go their separate ways. Spencer hears gunfire. Luca tried to bribe the officers. He opted for violence. The officers killed him.
The Episode’s End
Alex narrates a letter to Spencer. She is on her way to Billings. She will be at the ranch in a week. Alex hopes they are done proving their love. Also, she wonders what other calamities they could face. Moreover, Alex goes to the ladies’ room. There, a thief eyes her. He follows her and has plans to rob her.
